Nestled in the heart of the historic Chester walls lies Gustum, an independent café serving a range of Italian specialities. We were lucky enough to be able to work alongside the owner, Marco, to run a unique Italian experience, help support a local business and bring the people of Chester a little slice of Italian magic!
The night started with a warm welcome from Marco himself alongside a glass of prosecco on arrival, following this we got to sample a range of delicious antipasti dishes including bruschetta, cured salmon, homemade frittatas, garlic prawns and couscous. It’s safe to say they went down a treat and everyone was in high spirits as we drank some delicious red appassimento and white pecorino wine and went on to the next part of the evening which was a master class from Marco! A few of the guests got hands-on alongside Marco and helped him prepare the delicious ‘polpette’ main course which was the traditional Italian dish of meatballs and spaghetti. We finished off the evening with some traditional Sicilian cannoli for dessert, simply bellismo!
Marco, the owner of Gustum said: “It was an amazing evening at Gustum and we were really honoured to have been chosen as an Out There Hidden Gem. We are glad everyone had a great time and we hope to host more evenings in the future with the opportunity to experience a true Italian atmosphere. Our menus will change each time and we will make sure that every guest is receiving the attention they deserve. At Gustum we serve a variety of ciabattas and sandwiches with the freshest ingredients and we are true to our Italian heritage. We have daily specials that are always an experience and we look forward to make any old and new customer feel welcome, even if only for a coffee or a chat.”
Overall, the event was a great success and we were proud to be able to support one of our local hidden gems and host an event that benefited the good people of Chester! To find out more about Gustum be sure to download our app here or check out their advert here, Marco would love to see you!
